Description

Flavor Profile: This dry, light orange wine offers an energizing punch of fruity sourness, with notes reminiscent of a Normandy cider. It features flavors of Granny Smith apples, tart lemon zest, and a slightly barnyard-like character. The wine is fun, fresh, fruity, and fizzy.

Origin: Hungary – Barabás village in Eastern Hungary and Mád in the Tokaj wine district.

Grapes: 50% Királyleányka (Barabás) and 50% Furmint (Mád, Tokaj district)

Process: The Királyleányka grapes are destemmed and pressed directly in a basket press without skin contact, fermented in fiberglass. The Furmint grapes undergo 4-5 days of skin contact and additional time in the basket press due to slow pressing. The two are blended after the Furmint’s skin contact and pressing phase. The wine is hand-disgorged during November and December of 2023. This vinification process results in a more orange-colored wine that is fun and fruity in taste.

About the Producer: Réka Koncz is a dedicated winemaker working with old vines (45-50 years old in Barabás and 15-15 years old in Mád) planted in volcanic rhyolite and clay-loam soils. Collaborating with a partner in the Tokaj district, Réka focuses on creating unique and expressive wines that reflect the diverse terroirs of Eastern Hungary. The meticulous and natural winemaking methods highlight the vibrant flavors and characteristics of the local grape varieties
